The Gem County Fair Board, at Emmett, approved moving forward with racing, at Emmett, in April this year. The historic track has a deep rich history of racing and is home of the first pari mutual races in Idaho.
The Fair Board took steps to include the community, race industry, Chamber of Commerce, and interested person . This will be done by forming committees to handle all segments of the events. This is an exciting and engaging process that invites everyone to join in this process and bring their ideas and energy.
The races at Emmett have always been a family program where everyone can see and get close to the horses, owners and jockeys. There are family gatherings, picnics and get to gethers at Emmett each year. It is a very real way to go back and touch our roots and experience the great history of our past.
The dates will be set to avoid conflict with races in Utah and Washington to allow trainers, owners and horses to come to Emmett.
The Fair Board and all those at the meeting are committed to making this a great event and invite your participation and ideas.
