The IHC acts to protect and promote the entire horse industry in Idaho. Equine clubs, chapters, individuals, and business organizations come together to further the common interest of the horse industry. The IHC serves as the official equine voice to governmental and regulating bodies. Our committee members are truly dedicated to Promote, Protect, and Preserve the Equine Industry in Idaho.

We work with horsemen, veterinarians, and the Department of Agriculture to develop rules for potentially devastating diseases. We participate at meetings all over the state, and actively engage with agencies and legislative bodies to protect all equine related activities in our great state.

We maintain year round permanent office with a part time staff to answer questions and be an information resource for horsemen, business organizations, and governmental agencies. We successfully produce the IHC Horse Expo each year, largely through volunteer efforts. Our Expo introduces horsemen and non-horsemen to the latest equine clinicians, events, activities and products, etc. All proceeds go right back into the horse industry for promotion and protection.

We effect legislation on a state and national level as it relates to equine health, promotion, creation of the Idaho Horse Board, protection of trails, racing, brand inspections, and a multitude of other horse related issues. The IHC was instrumental in getting the Equine Activities Immunity Act in Idaho code, which protects individuals who allow others to ride on their property. Signs are available at the IHC office for a nominal fee.
